Every office of the University has its own seal, granted by the Chancellor, usually while asleep. Each carries a motto in the language of the ancient scholars, which the Historian confirms is very nearly correct. The seals may be used to refer to the office in question. See also the press page.
Gnarp University
Through hardship, to the nap.
A cat's head crowned by an orbiting ring, the emblem of the University since the Third Age of Tuna.
School of Applied Gravity
It still works.
A glass in mid-fall beside a table edge, above the puddle that confirms the result.
Department of Enclosure Studies
If it fits, it sits.
A box with two attentive ears, the fundamental unit of study.
Institute for Pursuit and Unattainable Objectives
Three centimetres.
A red dot ringed by the orbits of pursuit, with the final centimetres still to go.
Centre for Nocturnal Communication
In the middle of the night.
A crescent moon and a sound wave, with a single star listening.
Faculty of Thresholds and Doorways
I have not yet decided.
A doorway, lit on one side and dark on the other, with a cat exactly in the middle.
Solar Patch Sciences
The light comes; I am here.
A sun and the warm rectangle it casts on the floor.
Office of the Chancellor
After sleep.
A crown resting on a cushion, since the Chancellor is usually resting too.
The Library
Nothing on the third floor.
An open book, and a second book beginning to fall.
Office of Global Engagement
We do not promise sunbeams.
A globe with a saucer on a dotted route, the mark of every study abroad report.
Office of the University Historian
I am always watching.
An open eye beneath a crescent and a star. The Historian did not choose it. It has always been there.
