Students run more than a dozen clubs and societies, and new ones start whenever someone sits in a place for long enough. Here are a few of the most active.
Society for the Preservation of Boxes
Dedicated to keeping every box in circulation. Members pledge never to recycle a box that is still occupied.
Midnight Sprinting Club
Informal timed laps with no referee. Spectators are asked to stay out of the way, and asleep.
Doorway Appreciation Society
Membership is announced by standing. Meetings do not have an agenda, because members have not yet decided whether to come in.
Red Dot Chasers
Current record: three centimetres from a catch. The club always concludes with a treat, in line with the Institute's guidance.
Slow Blink Society
The University's welcoming committee. Members greet new students and staff with a slow blink and consider the matter settled.
Committee for the Advancement of Laps
Lobbies for lap availability. Human staff are welcome to attend, and to remain seated.
Sunbeam Chasers
Follows the sunlight around campus. Meeting location changes hourly.
Glassware Studies Club
Practical study of glasses, cups and mugs near table edges. Glassware is supplied and is not returned.
