Gnarp University wants its website to be usable by as many people as possible, including cats and their staff. This page describes what we have done and what we have not.
What we have done
- Pages use headings, lists, tables and page regions (header, navigation, main content and footer) so that assistive technology can move around them.
- Links, buttons and the quiz can be used with a keyboard, and links show a visible outline when focused.
- Illustrations, including the crest, the campus map and the faculty portraits, have text descriptions.
- Pages adapt to narrow screens and to larger text sizes, and do not require sideways scrolling.
- There is no autoplaying media, no flashing content and no time limits. Smooth scrolling is turned off for visitors who ask their device to reduce motion.
- Text is set in a system font, and colours are chosen with reading contrast in mind.
What we have not done
- The site has not been through a formal external accessibility audit.
- The department quiz needs JavaScript. If it is unavailable, the decision tree offers the same guidance.
- The campus map is a picture. The buildings it shows are described in the list below it.
- Portraits and other illustrations have short descriptions, not detailed ones.
Tell us about a problem
If something on this site is hard to use, please write to staff@gnarp.eu.cc. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and how you were trying to do it. We will look into it and reply as soon as we reasonably can.
Campus accessibility
The campus is fully accessible to cats. All shelves can be reached, all doors are opened on request, and steps have been replaced with cushions. Human staff have seating available, and laps are provided on request.
